Hygienic Sealing Solutions
Hygienic mechanical seals for the food and pharmaceutical industry
Balancing efficiency with strict health and safety regulations is a key challenge for manufacturers in the hygienic sector. Whether batch-processing vaccines or making dairy products, mechanical hygienic seals are critical for ensuring the quality and safety of the end product.
Since inception, Roplan has supplied mechanical seals for rotary equipment used in (bio)pharmaceutical, personal care, food and beverage plants. Our mechanical seals are engineered with the right materials and hygienic designs to prevent contamination and withstand cleaning processes. As key members of 3A®, EHEDG, and ASME BPE, we stay ahead of industry changes, ensuring our seal designs comply with the latest standards and are fully certified.
Mechanical seals for food and beverage processing
Food and beverage processing faces the strictest hygienic regulations. With contamination at a high risk, the sanitary design of your mechanical seals is your number one priority. Reliable sealing technology not only limits product faults or recalls but also prevents unforeseeable production downtime.
For 45 years, Roplan has partnered with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in food and beverage processing, developing mechanical seals for all applications. Our engineered seals are proven to last and can withstand rigorous cleaning processes, such as cleaning-in-place (CIP) and sterilization-in-place (SIP). Our hygienic design and materials meet statutory requirements, such as EHEDG, 3A®, FDA and EC 1935/2004.
If you need reliable FDA Compliant Seals and 3A® Sanitary Standards Seals, don’t hesitate to reach out.

How our process works
Discovery
We first gain a deep understanding of your technical and commercial requirements. Our engineers will conduct a thorough analysis of previous seal failures and factors that may influence the design, such as the application, processed media and equipment type.
Design
We’ll set a delivery plan and assign the right experts for the projects. We will then create concept designs for your mechanical sealing, ensuring all specifications are met. You’ll have time to review, and upon approval, our team will prepare for the verification process.
Development
We will develop prototypes of the final design so verification can begin. Our engineers will use FE (Finite Element) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) calculations to assess the mechanical seal’s structural, thermal and flow dynamics, and test these in our laboratories.
Using your equipment or a test rig, we will assess how the material and design respond under different conditions. We conduct vigorous testing to ensure that all requirements are met and that the seals will meet your expectations. Then, our team will complete production reviews, create instructions, and deliver a design release to assist with the next stage of the development.
Delivery
We’ll organise all relevant documentation and production equipment, and then deliver your mechanical seal. We’ll also evaluate the tools and procedures used in production to ensure quality and cost control.
